Florentino Perez's electoral trump card has been supposedly leaked after the Real Madrid president claimed he would bid at least €150 million for a player who is "of the calibre of Cristiano Ronaldo or Kaka".
In a much-talked-about appearance on Spanish TV show Horizonte on Thursday night, Perez made a statement of intent ahead of Sunday's vote to elect the club's next president.
"On Tuesday, I'm going to make an offer to an important, Champions League club, for a great player," he declared. "It would be the most money that Real Madrid have paid for a player in history. At least €150 million."
Perez proceed to rule out a number of names, including Erling Haaland, Jeremy Doku, Michael Olise and Harry Kane.

"The offer will be for a player of the calibre of Cristiano Ronaldo or Kaka. He is a Galactico," added the 79-year-old, who also confirmed that the target was not currently at a Premier League club.
"Obviously, we're talking about a player from midfield upwards. First, we'll speak to the club. We'll make the offer and see what happens."
Earlier this week, challenger Enrique Riquelme guaranteed the signing of Manchester City forward Erling Haaland if he won the vote ahead of Perez and held up a Los Blancos shirt with 'Haaland 9' on the back.

Ahead of Perez's announcement on Thursday, reports in Spain pointed to a move for Paris Saint-Germain's Vitinha, a midfielder that played a key role for the French club in their latest Champions League triumph.
Vitinha is currently valued at €140 million by Transfermarkt.
“If Florentino wants to settle the elections, the announcement of Vitinha would be the final blow," said journalist Pacojo Delgado, from Cadena SER.
And on Thursday evening, after the fallout from Perez's claim continued to spark debate, Madrid-based reporter Edu Pidal claimed that Vitinha will be the subject of Madrid's record-breaking bid this summer.
"The player for whom Florentino Perez is going to offer 150 million is Vitinha," said Pidal, as per Onda Cero.
Vitinha has already addressed Real Madrid rumours in interview
Back in March, Vitinha said it would be "foolish" for him to consider leaving Paris Saint-Germain amid interest from Real Madrid.
"It would be foolish to leave. I don't think it would be the best thing for me at the moment. I feel very good here at PSG. I love being here at PSG, and so does my family," he told Canal 11 after being asked about the rumours.
"We have a fantastic group and an incredible coach. I feel that people appreciate me a lot and I feel that I have earned that affection."
