Marcus Rashford is set to join Barcelona on loan according to widespread reports that will end his Manchester United nightmare.
Rashford has been frozen out at United under manager Ruben Amorim and spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa before returning to Old Trafford to find his number ten had been given away to new signing Matheus Cunha. He has not trained with his teammates upon their return to pre-season training and was not involved in United's 0-0 friendly draw with Leeds in Sweden this weekend.
The England forward has asked to leave United with reports emerging that Barcelona have agreed a season-long loan in principle. It is added that Barcelona will have a £40m option to buy Rashford next summer and will cover all of his wages over the course of the season.

If the loan goes through, it will represent a dream move for Rashford who was reportedly hoping that Barcelona would make a move in January before Villa swooped. He has spoken glowingly of his love for Barcelona's iconic Nou Camp stadium and should now get the chance to play there.
Speaking to Gary Neville's Overlap last year, was asked for his favourite stadium, after Old Trafford, to which he replied: “Atmosphere-wise, I’d probably say I enjoyed Nou Camp.
“The first time we played there we got beat 3-0. We had a couple of chances and I hit the crossbar early on. I think Paul [Pogba] had a shot that clipped the post and this was all at 0-0.

“Once they got the first goal, the crowd was different. Every time [Lionel] Messi got on the ball it was daunting and the crowd were shouting to make the backline nervous. It was all a mess after they scored the first goal.”
Rashford enjoyed a fine individual performance at the Nou Camp in the Europa League in 2023, however he may have to wait to walk out as a Barcelona player for the first time.
Barca are renovating their home and have spent the last two seasons playing at the Olympic Stadium in the city as work continues at the Nou Camp.

Delays have pushed their return back and are aiming to make a phased return from September, initially with reduced capacity.
And according to ESPN, Barca have been granted permission to play their first three games away from home to accommodate building work - delaying Rashford's home debut should he complete his loan move. Even then, it remains unconfirmed if the Nou Camp will be at its new full capacity of over 100,000 at any point in the 2025/26 season.
