Lamine Yamal has given an update on his future at Barcelona amid suggestions he could one day play for Real Madrid.

Yamal, 17, is one of the most talented teenage talents in world football having burst onto the scene in 2024.

His dazzling displays in La Liga and at Euro 2024 have continued to draw attention to one of the next best footballing proteges, with the Spain international finishing eighth in the 2024 Ballon d'Or rankings.

But with his contract the Nou Camp set to expire in 2026, rumours in recent weeks have suggested that everything isn't as it seems regarding the teenager.

The question remains whether he will stay at Barcelona for the whole of his career and the youngster was presented with that very question just a few days ago.

Yamal, who recently became the youngster ever player to reach 100 senior appearances, has 16 goal contributions to his name in Spain this season.

A popular member of Hansi Flick's squad, the La Masia academy graduate said he remains fully committed to Barcelona's project.

Asked whether he could ever move to rivals Real Madrid, Yamal told El Mundo Deportivo: “Impossible. Madrid, no."

Of course, stranger things have happened, like Luis Figo's infamous move from Barcelona to Real Madrid in 2000 that caused utter chaos.

For now, the teenage star remains focused on the job at hand this season and beyond.

"I feel comfortable, which is the most important thing," added Yamal.

"Talking about stars or not stars, in the end it is about playing, and showing what you are.

"You don't have to feel like a star, superior or inferior. It’s not necessary.

"The important thing is to be comfortable, to play for the team and for your teammates to help you. That's enough."

Barcelona are next in action against Las Palmas on Saturday, as the race for the La Liga title hots up.

Barca, Real Madrid and Atletico are all separated by just one point with 14 games left to play.
