Yamal was later seen walking down the tunnel, with Barcelona fans anxiously awaiting an update on the severity of his injury.
He had been suffering with groin problems in recent times but still managed to feature regularly for Barca.
In 44 games this season, Yamal has scored 24 goals and assisted another 17 in a stunning individual campaign.
He is expected to light up his first World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada in the summer and all football fans will be praying if he is fully fit to turn out for Spain in the showpiece.
Yamal recently added another individual award to his collection when he won the World Young Sportsperson of the Year at the Laureus World Sports Awards.
At the ceremony, Yamal could not hide his excitement about his mother watching him represent Spain on the biggest stage.
"I'm very excited. Since I was a child, I've dreamed of attending a World Cup, of being able to see my mother in the stands, of representing the national team… These two months are going to seem too short, and I obviously hope we'll be champions.
