Lamine Yamal was forced off for Barcelona after suffering a freak injury against Celta Vigo.

The Spain sensation opened the scoring in the 40th minute on Wednesday night, slotting home a penalty in his usual calm manner.

However Yamal did not celebrate finding the net as he was in immediate pain and fell to the turf, placing his hand on his head. He was then seen holding his hamstring

Barca players had gathered around to celebrate with him but that quickly turned to concern for the Blaugrana star, who had to be substituted by Hansi Flick in the clash after being attended to by the medics.

Yamal was later seen walking down the tunnel, with Barcelona fans anxiously awaiting an update on the severity of his injury.

He had been suffering with groin problems in recent times but still managed to feature regularly for Barca.

In 44 games this season, Yamal has scored 24 goals and assisted another 17 in a stunning individual campaign.

He is expected to light up his first World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada in the summer and all football fans will be praying if he is fully fit to turn out for Spain in the showpiece.

Yamal recently added another individual award to his collection when he won the World Young Sportsperson of the Year at the Laureus World Sports Awards.

At the ceremony, Yamal could not hide his excitement about his mother watching him represent Spain on the biggest stage.

"I'm very excited. Since I was a child, I've dreamed of attending a World Cup, of being able to see my mother in the stands, of representing the national team… These two months are going to seem too short, and I obviously hope we'll be champions.
