Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has spoken out after Lamine Yamal was spotted waving a Palestinian flag during Barcelona’s La Liga title parade on Monday (May 11).
On Sunday (May 10), Barcelona clinched their third title in four years with a comfortable 2–0 victory over rivals Real Madrid, courtesy of strikes from Marcus Rashford and Ferran Torres.
Despite currently being out injured with a hamstring issue in his left leg, Yamal was pitchside at Camp Nou with several other sidelined Barça stars, such as Raphinha.
The following day, the Spanish winger was aboard Barça’s parade bus with the rest of the squad as they celebrated their title triumph with fans in the city of Barcelona.

At one point, Yamal was spotted waving a Palestinian flag while aboard the bus, later posting photographs of himself holding it to his Instagram account, appearing to show his support for the state, which had been at war with Israel since October 2023, before a ceasefire agreement in October 2025.

Barça boss Flick was asked for his thoughts on Yamal’s actions during a press conference on Tuesday (May 12), with the German saying: “This I don’t normally like.
“I spoke with him. I said if he wants this, it is his decision. He is old enough. He’s 18 years old.”
Yamal is among several sportspeople who have shown support for Palestine, alongside footballers Karim Benzema, Mohamed Salah and NBA star Kyrie Irving, to name a few.
Flick’s attention then turned back to the remaining three La Liga matches, with Barça set to face Alavés, Betis and Valencia to round off the 2025/26 campaign, with the German focusing on his side reaching 100 points.
“The team, and I, want 100 points, and for that we have to win the three games we have left,” he said.
Barça would need to win all three of their remaining games to reach the milestone, with the side currently on 91 points from 35 matches.
Flick also discussed his future and appeared to hint that he will extend his stay at Barcelona until at least 2028.
He said: “During these last few days I have had to do several things. I’m very happy; this gives me the confidence to keep working for another year or two.
“I think a lot of coaches would be very happy if they signed a three- or four-year contract. But in the case of Barça, it is good to limit it.
“We will continue until 2028 and, if everything goes well, we will make the decision to continue for another year.”
