Barcelona star Lamine Yamal has been praised by fans online after his response to a brutal comment about his Ballon d'Or hopes.

After enjoying a breakout year for both for Barcelona and Spain in 2024, Yamal continued to impress for club and country this season, establishing himself as one of the best footballers on the planet.

The 18-year-old played a key role in the Spanish giants beating Real Madrid in La Liga title race, while contributing as they also beat their historic rivals in the Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup finals.

Because of this, Yamal has emerged as one of the favourites to win the coveted Ballon d'Or award this year, alongside teammate Raphinha, Paris Saint-Germain superstar Ousmane Dembele and Liverpool's Mohamed Salah.

As it stands, Dembele is the favourite to be given the award, and one fan decided to brutally make this clear when he bumped into Yamal in a clip that has gone viral online.

In the clip, Yamal can be seen going through an airport but is stopped by some french speakers who harassed the Barcelona star, shouting claims about Dembele's Ballon d'Or chances.

According to posts on Reddit, the fan was shouting: "Stop acting like a superstar Dembele Ballon d'Or, Dembele for Ballon d'Or."

However, Yamal appeared to be unfazed by the comments, completely ignoring the fan and going about his day, leading to him receiving huge praise on social media.

Reacting to the clip on social media, one fan wrote: "Trying to clown a 17 year old over potentially not getting a Ballon D'Or is as sad as it sounds. Shameless guy."

While another agreed, adding: "Some fans are so weird. People really need take a step back and look at your own behaviour sometimes, self reflection seems to have disappeared completely.

"Who the f*** seeks out someone not to cheer them on and support them, but to annoy them? I really don't get it, what do you even get out of that, except to broadcast to the world how unlikeable you are?"

And one pointed out: "Idk if he even understands french to understand the heckling lmao. Either way tho this is pure loser behaviour, doing this to anyone is just pathetic."

Yamal will discover where he has placed in the 2025 Ballon d'Or rankings with the official ceremony takes place on September 22 at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris, with several of the biggest names in football in with a chance of winning.
