La Liga set to show in-game graphics straight from a video game next season

La Liga has a new name and sponsorship and that'll lend itself to the new graphics and stats that will be shown during games.

La Liga will be getting a whole new look thanks to the Spanish top tier's newest sponsor, and parts of it will look like a video game.

Antonio Conte's famous meme has helped us remember that the Premier League is sponsored by Barclays, and an iconic period of England's top tier is affectionately known simply as 'the Barclays.'

However few have ever really referenced La Liga as 'the Santander' or probably even knew that the league's full name was La Liga Santander.

That'll no longer be the case thanks to their new sponsor from next season EA Sports, which means the competition's full name will now be La Liga EA Sports.

The company who used to produce the FIFA franchise will have their new EA Sports FC game coming out later this year, expected in September.

And fans have got a sneak peak of what the in-game graphics might look like as they'll also be used in Spanish football, as you can see in the video below.

Live stats and playing patterns will be seen by those watching on television, which will provide viewers with added insight into the games.

Top speeds, average playing positions, passing triangles and defensive line averages are all part of the tease of what information will be shown.

On top of all of that there is stats and information about the players and their actions on the pitch, including the distance from the goal for Yannick Carrasco's free kick.

Vinicius Jr's goal stats also appear on the footage as does a whole set of new metrics for the Clasico game between Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Some won't be into the new look of Spanish football but it will certainly be a new experience for anyone watching the games.

On the new sponsorship, La Liga president Javier Tebas said: "Today we begin a new era that represents a revolutionary change for both Spanish football and the industry.

"And we do so surrounded by clubs and strategic partners such as EA SPORTS, without whom none of this would have been possible. Together we want to create a better football for society and a better society for our football.

"The support of strategic partners and associates has been and will continue to be fundamental. LALIGA offers a unique product that makes it a key player in the industry.

"It is multi-target, since it reaches people of different ages and backgrounds; it is multi-engagement, and can be interacted with in different ways and with different intensity; and it is multicultural, thanks to its strong global presence."
