Kylian Mbappe has deleted an Instagram post which appeared to take aim at Paris Saint-Germain manager Christophe Galtier.

The Ligue 1 leaders looked off the pace in a 0-0 draw with Reims on Saturday evening, failing to score in a game for the first time this season.

PSG defender Sergio Ramos was sent off late in the first half following an argument with referee Pierre Gaillouste which didn't help the away side.

Mbappe started the game up front without Lionel Messi and Neymar on the flanks.

Messi missed the game after picking up an injury in Wednesday's 1-1 draw with Benfica, while Neymar came off the bench just before the hour mark.

The 23-year-old instead played alongside Carlos Soler and Pablo Sarabia, who failed to find a breakthrough.

Mbappe posted a picture of himself with the hashtag 'pivot gang'. According to Get French Football News, that's a reference to the France international not wanting to play up front alone.

For the national team, Mbappe plays up front alongside Olivier Giroud rather than out wide.

Galtier replaced Mauricio Pochettino in the summer and brought a new tactical setup with him.

He utilises a back three plus wingbacks, which gives his star-studded trio more license to get forward.

It didn't work against Reims however and Galtier referred to Mbappe as an 'orphan' in attack without Messi and Neymar.

"When Messi or Neymar don’t start obviously that changes the way we play and can lead to us maybe losing balls that lead to a few jitters and hand confidence to the opposition," the 56-year-old told Ligue 1's official website.

"Kylian Mbappe was a bit like an orphan without Leo and Ney, as I suspected. I thought that might change as the game went on.

IT'S ALL KICKED OFF!

"Ney didn’t start the match because he has played a lot recently. Obviously, when he came on we saw how good a relationship they have and that is why our second-half performance was better despite us being down to 10 men."

Mbappe signed a lucrative new contract with PSG last summer, becoming one of the highest-paid footballers in the world.

He's scored 11 goals in all competitions this season and will be attempting to win his second World Cup this winter in Qatar.
