Juventus forward Moise Kean sent off just 40 seconds after coming on vs Roma

Juventus forward Moise Kean sent off just 40 seconds after coming on vs Roma

Juventus suffered a 1-0 defeat to AS Roma on Sunday, with substitute Kean being sent off just 40 seconds after coming on.

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri says Moise Kean will receive a "big fine" after he was sent off just 40 seconds after coming on as a substitute in their 1-0 defeat to AS Roma.

The 23-year-old forward, who is currently on a two-year loan with the Serie A side from Everton, replaced Juan Cuadrado in the 88th minute of Sunday's clash at the Stadio Olimpico.

But exactly 40 seconds later, the Italian was shown a straight red card by referee Fabio Maresca after he kicked out at Gianluca Mancini in what can only be described as a moment of madness.

Kean soon walked past manager Allegri, who looked far from happy with the player following his bizarre dismissal. What was he thinking?

Juventus failed to find a late equaliser against the Giallorossi and in his post-match interview, a furious Allegri made his feelings clear on the straight red.

“He [Kean] made a mistake, he will get a big fine,” the 55-year-old said. "When you play football in a team, everyone has responsibilities. At this moment, making mistakes is not conceivable.

"What happened to Juve has never happened in the history of world football. I saw the boys in the locker room they were disappointed, embittered, and someone was even crying.

“The boys made a major effort, even if it doesn’t seem like it from the outside. The goal is to finish in the top 4."

He added: “At the moment we are second, so we should have been in line for Champions League qualification. We have to see it this way, otherwise, if we look at the current rankings, we can get depressed.”

It was confirmed in January that Juventus would be given a 15-point deduction following an investigation into financial irregularities.

Serie A’s FIGC Prosecutor handed the Turn-based club the hefty points deduction after they were found guilty of capital gain violations.

Earlier in the season, the club's board, including president Andrea Agnelli, vice-president Pavel Nedved and managing director Maurizio Arrivabene, resigned soon after the investigations began.

Juve currently sit in eighth place, 30 points behind Serie A leaders Napoli, who have lost just two games all season.
