"People close to Bellingham..." - Romano drops exciting update for Liverpool fans over potential transfer

Fabrizio Romano has dropped an exciting update on Liverpool’s chances of signing England star Jude Bellingham.

Fabrizio Romano has dropped an exciting update on Liverpool’s chances of signing England star Jude Bellingham.

Despite uncertainty regarding Fenway Sports Group’s ownership, the Reds continue to be linked with a move for the 19-year-old.

Bellingham has dazzled for Borussia Dortmund in both the Bundesliga and Champions League this season and has been strongly tipped to move to the Premier League.

It's been widely reported that Liverpool are strong admirers of the England star, though they are expected to face competition from the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City and La Liga giants Real Madrid.

Romano update

Romano has reiterated that Liverpool are among the clubs vying for Bellingham’s signature.

The transfer guru claimed the Reds are holding discussions with those close to the teenager in the hope of gaining an upper hand in negotiations.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT: “Liverpool will be in the race, 100 percent.

“They’re already in contact with people close to Jude Bellingham, so Liverpool will be there.”

What Dortmund have said

While Dortmund will be eager to keep Bellingham, they have a history of cashing on their prized assets - Erling Haaland, Jadon Sancho and Ousmane Dembele have all left for big many in the past few years alone.

It is understood by Bild the club value, Bellingham, at around £131million, given the England star’s contract does not run out until 2025.

Issuing an update on the current state of play regarding contract conversations, Dortmund's CEO told Bild: “I think as soon as Qatar is over. We will have a general discussion about what he actually wants.

"With him, with his parents, with whom we have a very close relationship. And of course with his advisor. And then he should just tell us whether he wants to stay or whether he wants to leave. In both cases, we will have a very pleasant and reasonable discussion with each other.

"But we don’t have to pretend that the issue is not on the table. If the really big clubs are involved, then we can’t afford to have a fight financially.”
