Joshua Kimmich publicly reacts to Julian Nagelsmann's 'sacking' at Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich has spoken out about the reported sacking of Julian Nagelsmann.

Reports in Germany claim that the German club have sacked Nagelsmann as their coach despite leading them to the Champions League quarter-finals.

Thomas Tuchel appears set to take over from the 35-year-old, having been out of work since his dismissal at Chelsea in September 2022.

And speaking ahead of Germany's friendly fixtures against Peru and Belgium, Kimmich has shared his thoughts on Nagelsmann supposedly being axed.

He refused to comment on the status of his job, but praised his managerial ability and said he's in his top three coaches in the world in glowing praise.

"I absolutely understand that this is a hot topic at the moment," he began. "But there was no confirmation from the club, so I can't and won't say much about it."

The Bayern midfielder added: "I can only say that Julian Nagelsmann is an outstanding coach. I've had a lot of top coaches, and I'd say he's easily in my top three."

Joao Cancelo, who's on loan from Manchester City, discovered the news regarding Nagelsmann DURING his post-match interview following Portugal's win over Liechtenstein.

Speaking to Sport TV, he admitted he was caught off guard: "Pfft. Pfft. I didn’t know, I didn’t know.

"I’ve only found out now, I know I won’t find Nagelsmann when I return to Munich - he wanted me to Bayern, I’d like to thank him."

The 29-year-old added: "I will try to fit into the new manager’s plans as best I can.

"As for Tuchel, he made me lose a Champions League final, so I hope he will win it for me this year!"
