Javier Hernandez attempted a panenka penalty in the 96th minute, he failed horribly

Javier Hernandez had already scored a penalty but his second spot-kick was a shocker.

Javier Hernandez produced arguably the worst penalty miss you'll see this year in LA Galaxy's 2-2 draw with Sporting Kansas City.

The former Manchester United striker struck twice in the game, including an 88th minute penalty to level matters at Dignity Health Sports Park.

But almost immediately after another spot-kick was awarded and the Mexican international had the chance to complete his hat-trick and seal a huge 3-2 victory.

For his first penalty, 'Chicharito' sent John Pulskamp the wrong way and put it right into the top corner.

But then he massively over-complicated things with his second effort from 12 yards in the sixth minute of stoppage time.

He went for a Panenka penalty but telegraphed it, with the poor finish seeing the ball go straight into the hands of Pulskamp, who did not fall for his tricks and collected the ball so easily.

Hernandez, Galaxy's skipper, had his hand on his head and wandered over to the post. He then put his hands up in a prayer signal and apologised to the home fans for the horrific miss after the game.

The ESPN Deportes commentator at the game brutally trolled Hernandez and erupted in a fit of laughter over his stinker of a strike.

When it comes off and the keeper is sent to the shops it looks superb but the danger is always looking like a right mug if the goalkeeper stays in the middle.

That's exactly what happened to Hernandez, who has 14 goals in the MLS this season. He recently hit headlines for a horrendous dive against Toronto FC, where he threw himself to the floor with remarkable exaggeration after a fracas with Michael Bradley, Richie Laryea and Chris Mavinga.

Galaxy are currently eighth in the western conference and return to action against Nashville on September 10.
