And the Liverpool hero was called into action early on as a ball was played in behind him with Bolt latching onto the pass.

But the World XI striker couldn't sort his feet quick enough, with Carragher mouthing 'f**king hell' after clearing his lines.

The Monday Night Football star poked fun at Bolt on social media following the charity match.

"When @usainbolt tells you he’s not that quick anymore," he tweeted.

To which Bolt replied: "Haha."

In another duel, Carragher took no prisoners and hacked down the former Olympic star to avoid a foot race.

The clash between Carragher and Bolt sent social media wild.

One tweeted: "Carragher defending against Bolt is hilarious."

A second laughed: "Carragher saying f**king hell" after chasing Bolt."

A third added: "Loved seeing Carragher trying to outrun Bolt."

Bolt's team had the last laugh as the World XI beat England on penalties.

Lee Mack scored the winning spot kick to win the shootout 4-1.
