Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville criticised for Signing of the Season picks

The pair couldn't pick Erling Haaland but were still getting questions about the Manchester City forward and others.

Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville have both been criticised for their selections for the Premier League's signing of the season.

It's nearly the summer which means months of transfer speculation to fill the void where football used to be, as clubs try to get themselves ready for next season.

Of course even before the current campaign the rumours are in full swing and there was nothing more predictable than Manchester United being linked to Neymar.

It could be a busy summer at Old Trafford, especially if there's new owners, but they won't be the only ones delving into some summer shopping.

Of course the end of the season also means that it's time to look back at what everyone's been watching for the past nine months.

On Monday Night Football, Carragher and Neville were giving out their awards for the campaign with Erling Haaland rather predictably picking up the Player of the Season accolade.

It's not the first he's got and it won't be the last but by getting the award from Sky's top pundits they agreed not to let him win the award for the Signing of the Season.

Instead Carragher decided he couldn't pick between Manchester City's Manuel Akanji and Nottingham Forest's Morgan Gibbs-White whilst Neville picked United's Casemiro.

Both men came in for criticism for their selections, with Neville being accused of bias after claiming that no one had a bigger impact on their team than Casemiro.

"Getting really boring having to listen to Gary Neville his bias makes me feel sick," one fan said, not at all being in the slightest bit overdramatic.

"Palhinha was just as good as casemiro and 1/4 the price," claimed a Manchester City fan.

An Arsenal supporter also wasn't having it, adding, "Casimero took the team from 5th to 4th. And got two red cards. The state of punditry on these shows."

"Even Lisandro Martinez has had a better impact to United than Casemiro," argued another City supporter.

But it wasn't just Neville getting stick from fans, "Sometimes I wonder if Cara has lace a boot before," questioned another fan.

"Arsenal that finished 2nd maybe doesn’t sign anyone," questioned a sixth fan.

"Morgan Gibbs-White just this average English player and over hyped," claimed another.

Another argued, "Akanji? Carragher hasn’t a f****ing clue."

One Wolves fan cried, "Gibbs-White? Don’t get me wrong he’s put some decent performances in recently but signing of the year not a chance, not even being biased."
