Manchester United set for key team news boost ahead of Nottingham Forest clash

Jadon Sancho and Anthony Martial are set to return to the Manchester United squad for the Carabao Cup clash against Nottingham Forest.

Jadon Sancho and Anthony Martial are set to return to the Manchester United squad for the club's Carabao Cup clash against Nottingham Forest.

Erik ten Hag’s side are in a good position to claim their first silverware since 2017 this term.

The Old Trafford club head into the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final with a healthy 3-0 lead over Nottingham Forest.

In turn, the United manager could rotate his squad for the game. Indeed Christien Eriksen will drop out of the starting lineup, with the midfielder expected to be out until April with an ankle injury.

Meanwhile, Diogo Dalot, Axel Tuanzebe and Donny van de Beek are all long term absentees.

However, a couple of key players are set to return to Ten Hag’s squad.

Sancho and Martial set to return for Man Utd

The club are set to welcome Sancho and Martial back to the matchday squad for the second leg against Forest.

Sancho has not featured for Ten Hag’s squad since November, and not played since October 22 in a 1-1 draw with Chelsea.

The 22-year-old has spent time away from the club since mid-December but returned to group training at Carrington earlier this month.

Meanwhile, Martial has endured an injury-hit campaign and has not featured since being withdrawn from the Manchester Derby at half-time.

However, Scott McTominay will not feature against Forest, while he is a doubt for the club’s weekend fixture against Crystal Palace.

Ten Hag told MUTV: "We have some issues.

“I think tomorrow that Anthony Martial and Jadon Sancho will return in the game squad, but Scott McTominay will still be absent.

“I think also the next game [against Crystal Palace] he will be absent. We have to see how that process will go. And for the rest, I think everyone is fit.”
