Gerard Pique Says Playing Against Rival La Liga Team Is 'Better Than Sex' With Shakira

Gerard Pique Says Playing Against Rival La Liga Team Is 'Better Than Sex' With Shakira

Gerard Pique says there is "nothing comparable" to playing against Espanyol, including sex with his partner. Shakira's hips must lie, then.

Gerard Pique has insisted that facing one of Barcelona’s La Liga rivals is “better than sex” with Colombian singer-songwriter and partner Shakira.

Espanyol are Barcelona’s city rivals and returned to La Liga this season after becoming champions of La Liga 2 in the 2020-21 campaign.

Pique, 35, didn’t hold back from sharing the thrill factor he receives when playing against Espanyol in a Barcelona derby.

While he has seen his fair share of action in El Clasico encounters between Real Madrid and Barcelona, Pique loves when Espanyol fans whistle at him.

Speaking to YouTuber Jordi Wild, the Barcelona defender said he enjoys playing against Espanyol more than competing against Real Madrid or his steamy sessions between the sheets with Shakira.

“I’m happy that Espanyol have been promoted to the first division because that way we get to play in their stadium,” he told The Wild Project.

“I like to go there, I get whistled at all the time. You laugh and the fans get even madder.

“There is nothing comparable in the world. I would say it’s better than sex. I enjoy it a lot more than playing against Real Madrid.”

Pique started publicly dating pop megastar Shakira back in 2011, having previously met when appearing in the music video for his partner’s ‘Waka Waka’ track for the 2010 World Cup.

The pair welcomed their first son, Milan, in 2013 before their second son, Sasha, was born in 2015.

Barcelona claimed bragging rights over city rivals Espanyol last November with a 1-0 win at the Camp Nou, with Memphis Depay scoring the winner from the spot-kick.

However, their second La Liga encounter of the season proved to be livelier, with Barcelona securing a point thanks to an injury-time equaliser from Luuk de Jong.

Espanyol were reduced to nine men after Nico Melamed and Manu Morlanes were dismissed, while Pique was also dismissed during a chaotic injury-time period.

Barcelona are currently second in La Liga and are 12 points adrift from arch-rivals Real Madrid, with Espanyol sitting comfortably in 11th place in the league table.
