The first 'End of an Era' player in EA FC 25 Ultimate Team has been released and it may be the best card in the game.

At the end of last month, the eagerly anticipated latest edition of the beloved football video game EA FC launched, and with it came another year of the popular Ultimate Team mode.

Fans of the franchise immediately began opening packs and completing squad builder challenges in an attempt to find and pack the best player in the game.

But now, a new card has been released as part of an 'End of an Era' promo, and it could be the greatest player in this year's game.

Following his announcement that he had retired from football, EA have released an end of an era card celebrating the career of Raphael Varane, and fans are excited.

The 87-rated special card commemorating the centre-back's impressive career, can be earned through the squad builder challenges section of the game.

Players will need to submit four squads to be rewarded with the card, which must be 85 rated, 86 rated with a team of the week player, 87 rated with a team of the week player and 88 rated.

Varane's special card boasts 82 pace, 54 shooting, 70 passing, 74 dribbling, 87 defending and 83 physical with three star skill moves and a four star weak foot.

Reacting to the card on social media platform X, one fan wrote: "Bruh no way man haha! This card would be so overpowered especially when he gets 80+ pace. Yeah that's why I'm not even bothered to buy any player from the market. We get insane SBC players anyway."

Another admitted that they would be adding Varane into their team immediately, writing: "Straight into my united past and present"

While one, less excited fan, pointed out: "Insane card but there’s plenty of good CB’s everyone will be packing soon."

Following a 14-year career that saw him win four Champions League titles and three La Liga titles with Real Madrid, the EFL and FA Cups with Manchester United and the 2018 World Cup with France, Varane announced he was retiring last month after sustaining a serious knee injury.

Therefore, it is a nice touch from EA to honour his impressive career with such a popular card so soon after the new game's release.
