Serie A champions Napoli are not licensed in EA Sports FC

Napoli won the Scudetto for the first time in 33 years but do not appear to be licensed in the upcoming EA Sports.

Plenty of people are desperate to know if Napoli will be in EA Sports FC 24 as their official selves but appears as though it won't be the case.

Some rumours had been swirling that the Italian champions would be properly in the game, with EA retaining a slew of licences for leagues, teams and players despite no longer being affiliated to FIFA going forward.

But Napoli, who won a first Scudetto for 33 years under Luciano Spalletti last term, will not have their official crest kit and name in the game according to the reliable Donk Trading on Twitter.

He wrote: "Napoli are 𝗡𝗢𝗧 Licensed in EAFC 24. The 'rumours' they will be are not true."

In FIFA 23, a total of four Serie A clubs were completely unlicensed - Napoli, AS Roma, Lazio and Atalanta. Before that, Juventus were known as Piemonte Calcio for a number of years because a deal was struck with Konami and eFootball, formerly known as PES.

Napoli will still have a blue home strip but them not having a license makes them a lot less appealing for fans when it comes to selecting them in kick-off or Career Mode.

EA have exclusive Serie A rights but they must negotiate with individual clubs to use their likeness. The Napoli news comes as a major disappointment for plenty of gamers, who have reacted on Twitter.

One said: "Oh come on man... I really wanted them back..."

A second added: "A reason more to not buy eafc."

A third said: "Naples FC here we go."

A fourth commented: "Serie A seems to be where PES are nicking the licences. AC Milan are not EAFC licenced either now."

Napoli still have a multi-year partnership with Konami, who sponsor their training centre - which includes a gaming area for players.

It's been confirmed that 19,000 players, 700 teams and 30 leagues will appear in EA Sports FC for its official release on 29 September.
