EA FC 25 'leak' reveals beloved icon who was removed from the game is finally returning in new promo

An EA FC 25 'leak' ahead of the game's next promo has revealed that an icon who was once removed from the game is set to make a return.

In recent years, EA have made use of weekly promos in Ultimate Team, during which new special cards are introduced into the game.

The next promo is titled 'Grassroots Greats', and will reportedly introduce a number of new Icons to the game.

Ahead of the promo, which is likely to be released on either February 14 or February 21, an Icon who used to be in the game during the FIFA series is set to be introduced.

That's according to Ultimate Team expert FUTSheriff, who claims on his Twitter page that Diego Maradona will be brought back to EA FC.

The Argentina legend is said to have a 97-rated card, which would make him the highest-rated Icon - and joint-highest rated of all cards - in the game.

Maradona was removed from FIFA 22 in March 2022 following a row over image rights. The legendary midfielder died in November 2020 at the age of 60.

EA were forced to take three Maradona cards out of packs, and the below statement appeared when users opened up Ultimate Team: "Due to a third-party legal dispute, we must suspend Diego Maradona from appearing in FIFA Ultimate Team Packs, future FUT content and the Soccer Aid World XI in EA Sports FIFA 22.

"As such Diego Maradona Icon Items will no longer be made available in Packs, SBCs and FUT Draft.

"We have always included Maradona's likeness and image under valid license agreements, first with Mr Maradona himself and later with the company entitled to license Maradona's image rights worldwide."

If the leak is correct, Maradona will have the same base card stats as his most recent card, in FIFA 22. EA are yet to release details surrounding the promo.
