EA Sports FC 24 to include 'toxic' celebration that was previously removed from FIFA game

A screenshot from EA FC 24 has emerged suggesting the controversial celebration will make a return.

It was a feature that resulted in countless broken controllers and rage-quitting but now, the infamous 'shush' celebration could be about to make a return.

On Thursday evening, during the highly-anticipated EA Sports FC 24 reveal, Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior delivered a celebration that was previously labelled "toxic" by the community.

Three years ago, those behind the scenes at EA decided to remove the "shush" feature from FIFA 21 after it received an overwhelmingly negative response from gamers.

EA Sports' Senior Producer Sam Rivera opened up about the decision in 2020. "We were told by the community that there's toxic behaviours in the game, and we wanted to make sure we removed them," he told GOAL.

"So we removed some of the celebrations that people thought were not the best idea to have in the game."

Now, after a long stretch without the "shush", it appears the celebration will make a return after it featured in the EA Sports FC 24 live stream.

Here's how fans reacted to the potential addition.

One said: "Honestly worse than the Mbappe cry celebration," while another commented: "The best celebration in FIFA history."

A third wrote: "Well looks like I better pre-order a controller as well when I buy EA FC 24 this year."

A fourth added: "I hear the broken controllers from here."

So what did we learn from the reveal trailer? It was confirmed that HyperMotion V technology will be used to make the game, which has been described as "the most true-to-football experience ever."

Other features include cross-play between different consoles for their Pro Clubs game mode.

"In EA SPORTS FC 24, friends can finally share a club with same-gen cross-play," EA said. "This also unlocks unified leaderboards so that players from different consoles can compete against one another for global placement."

Women's football will also be included within the Ultimate Team game mode – a feature that has been welcomed by many.

"Ultimate means everyone—welcome women’s football to Ultimate Team to unlock a new world of squad building potential," EA added.

It has emerged that the Standard Edition of EA Sports FC 24 will cost £69.99, while the Ultimate Edition for Xbox and PlayStation comes in at £99.99.

The enhanced version of the game, when pre-ordered, will include seven days early access, 4600 FC points and other in-game bonuses.
