Speculation has been rife in regards to the possibility of EA Sports acquiring the licenses for the Champions League and Europa League - and according to a Dutch commentator the gaming franchise have done just that for FIFA 19.
Last month, in an official statement, both Konami and UEFA confirmed that their "very successful and fruitful" 10-year partnership will come to an end once the Champions League final is done and dusted on May 19.
FIFA have had the licenses for all the major leagues such as the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga and Ligue One for as long as we can remember but the one thing missing from the game has been UEFA's competitions.
In Career Mode, we've had to make do with playing in the 'Champions Cup' and being honest, as realistic as the graphics and game engine are, it just doesn't have the same feel.

Yet that looks set to change when the release of FIFA 19 rolls around. As per Fox Sports announcer Evert ten Napel, who does commentary for the FIFA series, let it slip that both the Champions League and Europa League are to be added into the game.
Translated by a fine chap on the Reset Era forum, he said:
"For about six or seven days a year, I record updated lines [for the game] in the studio in Utrecht with Youri Mulder [another commentator]. In 2019 as well, the game will get even better, because they've added the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League.

"I'm almost finished with the 2019 version, which will then go to the test center. [In the test center] some very good players will check everything and after that, it will go to the stores in October. And then all those weirdos will be standing in line again at midnight."
Hearing the Champions League anthem in FIFA 19, as well as the official graphics, trophy and all that comes with it, is going to be immense.
