Gabriel Jesus is set to miss the rest of the World Cup with a knee injury, according to reports in Brazil.

Arsenal striker Jesus started for Brazil in their 1-0 defeat to Cameroon on Friday but was substituted shortly after the hour mark.

Brazil's team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar revealed after the match that there were injury worries over both Jesus and Alex Telles.

"Telles came off complaining of pain in his right knee after trauma," said Lasmar.

"He has been assessed in the changing room and tomorrow will do a magnetic resonance image to be able to assess his condition.

"Gabriel Jesus after the game complained of pain in his right knee and after clinical assessment, we have asked for an imaging exam tomorrow."

Jesus ruled out of the World Cup

According to Brazilian outlet Ge Globo, both players have now been ruled out of the tournament following those assessments.

"Bad news for Brazil! Exams point to injuries, and Gabriel Jesus and Alex Telles are out of the Cup," Ge Globo tweeted.

It is a major blow for Brazil boss Tite, as he prepares his side for their round of 16 clash with South Korea on Monday.

The news of Jesus' injury will also be a major concern for Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, with the Premier League season set to resume later this month.

The report claims Jesus could be out of action for up to a month, potentially ruling the striker out of Arsenal's next league game at home to West Ham on Boxing Day.

Arsenal fans concerned about Jesus' injury

Arsenal fans are worried about what impact Jesus' injury could have on the Premier League title race, with the Gunners currently five points clear of Manchester City at the top of the table.

"It was fun while it lasted," posted one fan on Twitter.

While another wrote: "We need another strikers asap!"

However, other supporters were more upbeat.

"At least it’s not an ACL or anything like that. A month isn't too bad," posted one fan.

While another added: "Could have been a lot worse wish him a speedy recovery."
