Arsenal are sweating over the fitness of striker Gabriel Jesus after he suffered a possible knee injury in Brazil's defeat to Cameroon at the World Cup.

The five-time champions suffered a shock 1-0 loss on Friday night, with Vincent Aboubakar's late goal sealing a famous win for the African side.

Despite the defeat, Brazil still topped their World Cup group and progressed to the last 16 along with Switzerland, who beat Serbia 3-2 in the group's other game.

Brazil will now face South Korea in their round of 16 clash on Monday.

Brazil head coach Tite has several injury concerns ahead of the match, including Arsenal striker Jesus.

Jesus injury fears emerge

Following the defeat to Cameroon, Brazil’s team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar revealed there were worries over both Jesus and Alex Telles.

"Telles came off complaining of pain in his right knee after trauma," said Lasmar.

"He has been assessed in the changing room and tomorrow will do a magnetic resonance image to be able to assess his condition.

"Gabriel Jesus after the game complained of pain in his right knee and after clinical assessment, we have asked for an imaging exam tomorrow."

Arsenal fans are understandably concerned by Jesus' injury and the impact it could potentially have on the Premier League title race.

"That's it. Cancel the world cup. End it now," joked one fan on Twitter.

Neymar in contention to face South Korea

There was more positive news for Brazil over the fitness of Neymar, who missed his side's final two group games after picking up an ankle injury in their win over Serbia in their opening match of the tournament.

"Regarding Neymar and Alex Sandro, we think we have time on our hands and there is a possibility [they could play against South Korea]," Lasmar added.

"Let's wait what their transition will be - they have still not started to train with the ball and it's something they will do tomorrow.

"It will be important to see how they respond to this new style, so depending on that, we will make a call."
