Kyle Walker to Manchester City would appear to be pretty much a done deal, and the England defender might have some apologising to do to the club's supporters.

Reports from various this afternoon confirm that City have agreed a staggering £50 million (plus a reported further £3 million in add-ons) deal with Tottenham for the signing of Walker, who had been earmarked as a priority signing for Pep Guardiola and City.

Even with the hefty fee being forked out, the vast majority of City fans will be delighted that they have finally signed a full-back after Bacary Sagna, Pablo Zabaleta and Gael Clichy were released, and Dani Alves elected to join PSG.

But they won't be best pleased with this Tweet from 2012 where Walker slagged off his new club's fans.

The Sheffield United youth product sent out the Tweet after City had claimed a last-gasp win over Spurs at the Etihad, with Mario Balotelli stamping on Scott Parker and scoring the winning goal from the spot having been fouled by Ledley King in stoppage time.

The England international quickly apologised and put his post down to being so "gutted" about the defeat.

Here's how Twitter reacted to the news that Walker is on his way to City:
