The return of football also means one more thing... fantasy football is back upon us!

Whether you're still picking your team, learning the new rules or trying to figure out the punniest name, we've got you covered.

Newbie or a veteran of the game, there's always plenty to know about FPL.

That includes the rules around formations, which you can choose from and how to change it.

We've got you covered.

How to change your FPL formation

This one is pretty simple, all you need to do is just swap your players around and the game will automatically do this for you. To swap them, you just want to click the yellow button next to the players' shirts and FPL will tell you who you can swap them with.

Which formations can you play FPL in?

You can have pretty much any formation you like, as long as you meet the minimum requirements of one goalkeeper, three defenders and at least one forward selected at all times.

The different types of formations that will be eligible are:

  • 3-4-3
  • 3-5-2
  • 4-4-2
  • 4-3-3
  • 4-5-1
  • 5-3-2
  • 5-4-1
  • 5-2-3

The 3-4-3 is usually the most popular formation as it allows for the most attackers, however with defenders becoming such an important part of any attack, the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Reece James are changing how the game is played, proving most people's first picks for their team.
