Five free agent strikers Wrexham could sign to replace Jack Marriott and Steven Fletcher after devastating injury blows

Wrexham are currently without both strikers due to injury.

Wrexham may be forced to dip into the transfer market due to the injuries suffered by striking duo Jack Marriott and Steven Fletcher.

Fletcher missed Tuesday's 0-0 draw at home to Huddersfield with a knee injury, while Marriott will be absent for around four months after fracturing his fibula when taking a shot in training last week.

After the match on Tuesday, manager Phil Parkinson confirmed that the Red Dragons would explore free agent options amid the pair's ongoing absence.

While permanent or loan transfers cannot be registered until January 1, League One clubs can still sign and register free agents at any time until the end of March.

With that in mind, here are five strikers that Wrexham - who still sit in second place in the third division - could bring to the Racecourse Ground.

Kemar Roofe

Now 31 years of age, former Leeds, Oxford and West Brom striker Kemar Roofe possesses bags of EFL experience.

He is a free agent after being released by Scottish giants Rangers in the summer. The Jamaica international spent four seasons at Ibrox and scored 25 goals in two years before injuries derailed his progress.

Once tipped as a future England international, Connor Wickham was once the subject of an £8 million move to Premier League side Sunderland.

Injuries meant that the forward was never able to fulfil his full potential, but Wickham still has plenty to offer at 31 years of age.

After being released by Crystal Palace in 2021, the striker has had various spells across the EFL and was most recently at League One side Charlton Athletic, where he scored one goal in four games last season.

Martyn Waghorn

Perhaps the most obvious option on this list, Waghorn netted seven goals in 24 appearances to help Derby gain promotion to the Championship last season.

He left Pride Park at the end of the campaign - to the surprise of some - and has still yet to find a club.

At 34, the former Wigan, Ipswich and Rangers star still has playing time ahead of him, and could be the ideal experienced frontman to help keep up Wrexham's momentum heading into the January window.

Admiral Muskwe

A senior international with Zimbabwe, former Leicester forward Admiral Muskwe was named as the Foxes' Academy Player of the Year award in the season that the senior side won the Premier League.

Eight years on, Muskwe is without a club after leaving Luton in the summer. He spent last season in League One on loan at Fleetwood Town, but the 26-year-old only made six appearances after suffering a serious injury on international duty in November.

Lys Mousset

In 2019, French striker Lys Mousset joined Sheffield United for a club-record fee - with Yorkshire Live later reporting that manager Chris Wilder had been recommended other alternatives, including a certain Lille forward by the name of Victor Osimhen.

Mousset did score six Premier League goals in his debut season and initially impressed Blades fans, but injury restricted his game time in future seasons and he left the club in 2022. The 28-year-old is still without a club after leaving Bochum in January, having suffered a serious Achilles tendon injury during his time in Germany.
