Ryan Reynolds has spoken out to address his future with Wrexham explain the recent sale of shares in the club.

Since taking over as co-owners of the club in November 2020, Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have helped guide Wrexham to back-to-back promotions up to League One.

Following the success of the Welsh side, the pair decided to take on new investors as they sold a minority share to the Allyn family of Skaneateles in October.

And now, Reynolds has explained what the new investment will mean for his future with Wrexham.

While speaking to The Holywood Reporter, the Canadian was asked about the sale to the New York-based Allyn family, who reportedly paid over $600million (£475.5m) for their stakes, and if it meant that he and McElhenney were taking a step back from Wrexham.

"No, we will remain majority owners. The team is growing faster than anyone expected," replied Reynolds

"There are needs that require a certain type of skill and people who have some experience in growing things.

"We chose the Allyn family because they have similar values that make Wrexham. They’ve been revitalising towns and communities for many years in upstate New York, and that’s why bringing them on didn’t cause a big stir."

After selling their huge medical device company Welch Allyn for a breathtaking $2.05 billion back in 2015, the Allyn family have focused their attention on private and public investments, with the most recent one being Wrexham.

And bringing them into the club has widely been seen as a great bit of business from Reynolds and McElhenney, as it allows them to capitalise on the huge growth in popularity and success in recent years and use the fund to further propel the team forward.

In a joint-statement announcing the deal in October, Reynolds and McElhenney said: "Wrexham has earned the world’s attention and we are focused on bringing on board world-class partners to help with the next phase of our growth.

"We have been fortunate to get to know the Allyn family and we are blown away by their intelligence, kindness and commitment.

"They are exactly the type of partners we will need for this amazing endeavour."
