Wrexham co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have reacted to the announcement of the club's new billionaire investors, and fans are excited.

In an official statement on Wednesday afternoon, the Welsh side confirmed that the Allyn family of Skaneateles had become minority investors in the club.

After selling their massive medical device company Welch Allyn for a breathtaking $2.05 billion in 2015, the Allyn family have focused on private and public investments.

And now, popular Wrexham co-owners Reynolds and McElhenney have published their reaction to the new investors, and it has got fans excited for the future.

In a joint statement, the pair commented on the news, saying: “Wrexham has earned the world’s attention and we are focused on bringing on board world-class partners to help with the next phase of our growth. We have been fortunate to get to know the Allyn family and we are blown away by their intelligence, kindness and commitment.

"They are exactly the type of partners we will need for this amazing endeavour.”

It remains to be seen how much the Allyn family will be prepared to invest in the club, but the news has already got Wrexham fans dreaming of the Premier League.

Reacting to the news on social media, one fan wrote: "Up the Premier League Town"

Another agreed, claiming they expect Wrexham to be competing with the best teams in Europe, writing: "Can’t wait to watch us beat Madrid in a few years."

However, not all fans were happy with the announcement, with some voicing concerns that the Welsh club is quickly becoming overrun by American-based investors, neglecting local fans.

One fan wrote: "At this point I hope the Wrexham Supporters Trust has a minority investment in the club too."

But another disagreed with this sentiment, pointing out: "Been there done that. We couldn’t raise the money to compete at the next level."

Ahead of Reynolds and McElhenney purchasing the club in 2020, Wrexham was owned by the Wrexham Supporters Trust (WST) from 2011.

But in November 2020, 98.6% of the WST, which was made up of over 4,000 members, approved the new owner's takeover of the club.
