Wrexham’s financial figures have been revealed and the club owe a huge amount to Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

The Hollywood duo completed their takeover of the Welsh club in February 2021 and have turned the fortunes of the club around.

Wrexham lifted their first league title in 45 years by winning the National League and ended their 15-year absence from League Two.

Phil Parkinson’s side remain in the hunt for back-to-back promotions, sitting just three points behind league leaders Stockport County after 31 games in third.

The club have released their financial accounts in their annual update and the figures show both Reynolds and McElhenney are owed a huge amount.

Accounts show Wrexham owe £9m to their owners meaning their investment into the club has almost doubled since last year.

Wrexham added that their turnover had almost doubled while losses increased by £2.2m to £5.1m. The club’s pay roll had also risen from £6.9m, the highest in League Two.

A statement posted on the official club website stated the losses should not be repeated as a result of the extra income the club can generate as a result of their spending.

A club statement read: "The financial losses suffered by the club since the takeover shouldn't be repeated, with income generated by the club now sufficient to meet the operational costs of the club going forward."

It added: "These losses were deemed necessary to allow the club to maximise its full potential in the shortest time practically possible.

"The club is under no immediate pressure to repay these loans at the expense of the progress we seek to achieve and further financial support will be provided/secured to support the capital expenditure projects the club is currently planning, which includes increasing the capacity of The Racecourse Ground and the development of a training facility for all the club's teams.

"These will significantly increase again for the year ending June 30, 2024, following promotion and the continued popularity of Welcome to Wrexham."
