Wolves manager Gary O'Neil has confirmed that one of his first-team squad will continue to be exiled following a training ground incident at the club's Compton Park facility.

After being excluded from Wolves' matchday squad to face Arsenal on Saturday, Jonny Otto's future at Molineux has been plunged into doubt.

Otto, who joined the Premier League side from Atletico Madrid in 2018, was a regular under Nuno Espirito Santo.

But the 29-year-old has struggled for first-team minutes of late. In fact, he has made just one Premier League appearance for Wolves this season, when he came on as a late substitute in their win over Manchester City in September.

Now, it appears Otto will continue to miss out after manager Gary O'Neil confirmed that the Spanish defender will be unavailable for upcoming training sessions or matches.

Speaking ahead of Tuesday's clash against Burnley, O'Neil said: “I’m not going into the actual incident too much. We’re working hard to shift the club in a certain direction and it is important that we continue to do so.

“So the Jonny incident has been dealt with and will continue to be dealt with by the club as it should be.

“Jonny won’t be in the squad tomorrow. There was a training ground incident last week that’s being dealt with by the club. If or when he’s back available, we’ll let everybody know about it.

"At this moment in time, he won’t be available for the coming games.”

O'Neil was also asked if training ground incidents are healthy for a team's fight and spirit. "They can be healthy but those ones generally aren't dealt with," he added. "Anything beyond that is dealt with by myself and the club.

"We're working hard to shift the club in a certain direction. The Jonny incident has been dealt with and will continue to do so. My 100% focus is on Burnley."

Wolves currently sit 13th in the Premier League table ahead of Tuesday night's game against Burnley, who continue to linger in the relegation zone after picking up just two wins from a possible 14.
