France striker Wissam Ben Yedder ‘charged with rape after two women sexually assaulted after night out’

The striker was charged on Friday

France international striker Wissam Ben Yedder has reportedly been charged with rape after two women were sexually assaulted after a night out.

According to BBC Sport, it was confirmed by the Nice prosecutor’s office on Friday that it had open proceedings against the AS Monaco and France striker.

According to reports in France, the alleged incident happened back in July in the Cote d’Azur region of Beausoleil.

Back then, public prosecutor Xavier Bonhomme confirmed that there is “the existence of two allegations of rape, from victims, targeting two people.”

Radio station France Info have claimed that two women, aged 19 and 20 accused Ben Yedder and his younger brother of “forcing them into sexual acts” after a night out in.

Ahead of the trial, Ben Yedder has been placed under judicial supervision and a bail of €990,000 has been requested, his brother has also been indicted on the same charges.

Ben Yedder, 32, has played for the likes of Toulouse and Sevilla prior to his reported £35 million move to Monaco back in 2019.

For the French Ligue 1 side, Ben Yedder has scored 98 goals in 167 appearances.

On the international stage, Ben Yedder has represented France on 19 occasions, scoring three times.

The striker was named on the standby list for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, which France went on to win.

According to The Sun, Ben Yedder took part in training on Friday ahead of Monaco’s opening Ligue 1 match against Clermont on Sunday.
