Jarrod Bowen has released a statement after he became embroiled in a heated altercation with a West Ham fan following the Hammers’ 3-2 defeat against Wolves in the Carabao Cup second round on Tuesday.
Wolves took the lead 43 minutes in at Molineux, thanks to Rodrigo Gomes’ strike, but the away side fought back five minutes after the interval with Tomas Soucek levelling things on 50 minutes.
Lucas Paqueta put Graham Potter’s side ahead on 63 minutes, but the home side hit back via a Jorgen Strand Larsen brace late on to progress to the third round.
As for West Ham, the defeat was their third consecutive loss of the 2025/26 campaign, which will no doubt add to the pressure and question marks surrounding Potter’s future.

Shortly after the match, captain Bowen appeared to initially walk towards the away end to show his appreciation to those who made the trip to the Black Country, but things quickly turned sour.
It is unclear what the catalyst was for Bowen’s reaction, but he was visibly annoyed and had to be led away by his teammates.
Within 45 minutes of the incident, the England international took to social media, posting a statement.

"Apologies to the fans for tonight's reaction," Bowen wrote on Instagram.
"I'm someone who is passionate and will fight every time I step on the pitch. But I need to set a better example, and you fans know how much I love you and this club.
"We ride through the bad times together, and I'll see you all Sunday."

Head coach Potter also addressed the incident after the game, admitting that both the fans and players were “in pain” before calling for “everybody’s support”.
Potter said: "The team's suffering at the moment, we all are, we're all hurting. I can assure you no-one's happy.
"I have no idea what was said or anything. Our supporters have been fantastic; they are hurting because of the results we've had and Jarrod obviously cares about the club and the team. It's just an exchange of views by people who care.
"Everyone is hurting, rightly so, because we haven't had the results we'd like. Jarrod has been a fantastic captain and servant for the club."
