Tyson Fury has broken his silence after receiving calls for him to intervene as his hometown club, Morecambe FC, faces extinction.
Fury, 36, lives in Morecambe with his family and is regularly spotted running along the coastline in the Lancashire town.
The town’s football club are currently in a precarious position, and shutting down for good is a realistic prospect, with owner Jason Whittingham's failure to sell the club leading to suspension from the National League.
On July 28, the league announced that the club were suspended until August 20 due to their financial situation.

As reported by BBC Sport last month, the National League have “serious concerns” about the club’s compliance with its rules.
Shrimps’ owner Whittingham put the club up for sale in September 2022, but no deal has been struck with new investors at this time.
"It's absolutely horrible,” said Alison Williamson, a Morecambe resident and supporter, when speaking to BBC Sport.

"The football club gives so much to the town. It's just so sad that Whittingham is down in Essex and allowed to take it all away from us.
"It's kind of a grieving process. It's like losing a member of your family that has always been there. Even if you don't see them all the time, when they're not there anymore, you suffer and you feel the loss."
Just last week, the club’s players were sent home due to a lack of insurance cover, while the academy has also stopped operating.
And given Fury’s vast wealth – a reported £161m as per the MEN - and notoriety, there have been some calls for him to intervene due to his close connection with the area.

In 2022, Fury himself even told talkSPORT that he was interested in investing in Morecambe.
Fury said: “I'm thinking about buying Morecambe Football Club, they're in League One at the moment.
"So I was thinking I would invest X amount of millions in them."

He added: “I've been offered to buy Morecambe Football Club.
"I own all the training facilities anyway and the training gym.
"So, who knows? You might be looking at a football club owner."
But Fury has remained silent about the current issues at the club.

On Tuesday, he uploaded a video of himself walking along what appeared to be Morecambe Bay, but there was no mention of the crisis club from the self-proclaimed ‘Gypsy King’. Instead the retired boxer spoke about the weather and tagged his sports nutrition business, Furocity.
