Arsenal camp's one-word response after watching Viktor Gyokeres train speaks volumes

Viktor Gyokeres has shocked Arsenal's coaches following his performances in training.

Viktor Gyokeres has made an instant impression at Arsenal as a one-word claim has emerged and it speaks volumes.

Arsenal secured Gyokeres' services after striking a lucrative deal with Sporting CP, who accepted an up-front payment of £55 million.

Once he completed his transfer to Arsenal, the star forward jetted out to Asia to link up with his new teammates.

And the 27-year-old made his first appearance for the Gunners in their 1-0 defeat to cross-city rivals Tottenham, with fans already making up their minds on him.

He will be hoping for more minutes under his belt ahead of the new season.

But it appears the Swede would be ready to play now if the Premier League started 'tomorrow'.

That's according to Graeme Bailey, who claims Gyokeres has 'blown coaches and teammates away' with his initial performances in training.

"Viktor Gyokeres made it clear through the process that he is ready and my word, he has blown coaches and teammates away already. One word, 'Wow' - that is the response I have had from inside the Arsenal camp when I asked about Gyokeres," said Bailey.

"Although he has just turned up, I am told that he could play tomorrow if the Premier League started - he is ready!

"Arsenal are not getting carried away, but his professionalism is shining through already."

Gyokeres' reported professionalism bodes well for Arsenal, who have been crying out for a prolific forward.

He scored an impressive 54 goals across all competitions last season as Mikel Arteta will be hoping his new man can replicate his form into the Premier League.

Speaking after his side's defeat to Spurs on Thursday, Arteta expressed his delight at recruiting Gyokeres ahead of the new season.

"Really happy obviously to have [debutants Gyokeres and Cristhian Mosquera] here, I think they're going to have a lot of value," he said. "You see this right away, as well as the energy and the quality that they're going to bring.

"It was a short one but at least that one is off now and when they play against Villarreal now, I'm sure it will be a bit different."
