Thomas Frank Responds After Using Arsenal Cup Before Bournemouth Clash

Frank was asked in his post-match press conference following Spurs' 3-2 defeat to Bournemouth.

Spurs manager Thomas Frank has responded after he was photographed using an Arsenal-branded cup before his side's 3-2 defeat to Bournemouth.

Goals from Evanilson, Junior Kroupi and Antoine Semenyo condemned Frank's side to their fifth Premier League defeat in 10 matches.

Spurs opened the scoring on five minutes through Mathys Tel, before Joao Palhinha made it 2-2 in the second half.

But Semenyo's winner on 95 minutes, scored ahead of his big-money move to Manchester City being completed, consigned Spurs to another away loss.

While the match was being played, Spurs fans spotted several images published online of Frank holding a cup that featured the logo of fierce rivals Arsenal.

The photo, which was taken before kick-off, was published by two official photographers on the Getty Images and PA websites.

Spurs supporters were not particularly impressed at the photo - particularly given their team's recent run of results - and made their feelings known across social media.

Bournemouth hosted Arsenal at home on January 3 and, while not confirmed, it is likely that the branded cups will have originated from that fixture.

Frank stated in his post-match press conference that he 'definitely did not notice' the cup, and that it would have been 'extremely stupid' for him to drink from it if he had.

"I definitely did not notice it," he told reporters. "It would be completely stupid of me to take it if I knew.

"It's a little bit sad in football that I need to be asked about it. I would never do something that stupid.

"I think we're definitely going in the wrong direction if we need to worry about me having a cup with another logo of another club.

"Of course, I would never do that. That's extremely stupid."

Spurs are in 14th place in the Premier League table following the Bournemouth defeat, having scored 28 points from their 21 matches so far this season.
