A new photo, allegedly taken from Middlesbrough's training ground, has provided new insight into the 'spygate' drama engulfing Southampton during the play-offs.
The EFL launched an investigation last Thursday after Middlesbrough accused a Southampton staff member of spying on their training session ahead of the Championship play-off semi-final first leg between the two sides.
Leeds were previously handed a fine over a similar incident in 2019, but spying has been made illegal under EFL rules since then and stronger sanctions could be imposed on Southampton, who beat Middlesbrough 2-1 on aggregate to reach the play-off final and are managed by Tonda Eckert.
Sky Sports News report that there are a range of potential sanctions that could be imposed if the Saints are found guilty of any offence, including being kicked out of the play-offs altogether.

It has been claimed that Boro, who are managed by Kim Hellberg, will have a two-day break following their semi-final defeat, before returning to training on Friday in case they are given a reprieve by the EFL.
The Daily Mail have now published a new photo, which they claim shows a Southampton staff member in question stood behind a tree at what is alleged to be Middlesbrough's training ground - while filming on a phone.
It was previously reported that the staff member had used 'professional surveillance equipment'.
He is described by sources as a 'key part of Eckert's first-team operation and highly valued by the German head coach'.
The staff member, who the Mail say they have 'positively identified' as an intern, William Salt, was said to have been confronted by Boro staff when he was spotted filming, and fled the scene before entering the nearby Rockhill Golf Club, which is owned by Middlesbrough chief Steve Gibson.
It is claimed that other Championship clubs suspect they have been 'spied' on by the Saints, and that transactions made near to their training grounds are being assessed.
The case remains under investigation by the EFL and no individual has been found guilty of any wrongdoing or rule breach at this stage.
