The stats from the respective careers of Paul Scholes, Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard have been crunched and there's a clear winner.

Scholes, Gerrard and Lampard enjoyed legendary careers at Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea respectively.

They played in the same era and lit up the Premier League.

Scholes won an impressive 11 Premier League titles during a storied spell under Sir Alex Ferguson and Lampard won three league titles during a decorated career at Stamford Bridge.

While Gerrard failed to win the title during his career, he is widely recognised as one of the best midfielders the league has ever seen following his stellar performances for Liverpool.

Scholes, Gerrard and Lampard also played in the same England team that was dubbed as the 'Golden Generation'.

Fans and critics alike have compared the three iconic midfielders against each other to differing results, with Zinedine Zidane singling out one player for special praise.

Scholes, Gerrard and Lampard have since been compared via the stats they accrued in their careers.

A post on Reddit has collated the numbers from their respective careers and pitted it against one another.

From the stats presented, Scholes comes out on top when they were in their 20s.

He trumps Gerrard and Lampard in a series of categories, including non-penalty goals, open-play assists, passes, pass completion, tackles and interceptions.

Gerrard has superior dead-ball assists and long pass completion, while Lampard excels in long passes.

And Scholes once again prevailed when they were in their 30s.

He surpasses Gerrard and Lampard in several categories, including passes, pass completion, long passes, long pass completion, tackles and interceptions.

Gerrard has better numbers than Scholes and Lampard in dead-ball assists, clearances and aerials won, while Lampard has a greater number of non-penalty goals and open-play assists.

So, based on the stats provided, Scholes triumphed over both Gerrard and Lampard in both his 20s and 30s, seemingly ending the debate between the three midfielders.

Of course, the stats showcased only put a spotlight on selected numbers.
