A Manchester City fan wants Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules ditched so Premier League clubs can compete with the Saudi Pro League.

A host of superstar names including the likes of Karim Benzema and N'Golo Kante have left Europe for Saudi Arabia.

Saudi clubs have tabled eye-watering contracts, luring some of the best players away from European clubs.

Liverpool's Jordan Henderson could be the latest player to swap Europe for Saudi Arabia, with Al Ettifaq offering a whopping £700,000-a-week contract.

To stop the talent drain to the Saudi Pro League, a Man City supporter has suggested the UEFA bin FFP so clubs aren't restricted in the transfer market.

"UEFA have a serious issue! They have to look at Financial Fair Play," he said on talkSPORT.

"Financial Fair Play’s a restriction of trade... and the money will trickle down!"

Needless to say, the idea sent social media wild as some people online poked fun at the concept of getting rid of FFP while some fans agreed with the claim.

One Twitter user wrote: "Hahahaha A Man City fan complaining that they can't compete financially with richer clubs. The irony in this is comical."

A second tweeted: "FFP should be ditched so any team can compete."

A third added: "Only way to make global football fair is for FIFA to implement a FFP system, Saudi’s are only doing what European clubs have done to South American leagues for decades. Needs global salary caps and stronger policing of declared revenues."

A fourth said: "Wouldn’t solve anything. The Saudi’s still have more money than the Premier League. Even without restrictions, no club in the premiership is going to compete with the 700k a week the Saudi’s are offering to average players."

Another argued: "He’s got a point to be fair. Can’t have rules that limit what you can do but on the other side of the world they can do whatever they want. Accident waiting to happen."

Should FFP be abolished so clubs in Europe can compete with the Saudi Pro League? Let us know what you think.
