A respected journalist has dropped a bombshell on Pep Guardiola's situation at Manchester City just days after his 1000th game in management.
Guardiola celebrated the historic milestone with a dominant 3-0 victory over Premier League champions Liverpool thanks to goals from Erling Haaland, Nico Gonzalez and Jeremy Doku.
The result, a 716th win for Guardiola, moves City within four points of Arsenal after they drew 2-2 with Sunderland, with the Blues now well in contention to regain their Premier League crown after a monumental drop off last season.
With new coaches James French, Kolo Toure and Pep Lijnders in his staff, as well as a number of new additions to refresh his squad, Guardiola has appeared reinvigorated and his team are now finding their form when it matters.

Amidst a wretched run last season, Guardiola committed his future to City and is now tied down until the end of the 2026/27 season.

But while many believe he is in the process of rebuilding another great City side, a new report claims that this season could be his final one with the Blues.
Journalist gives Guardiola update
According to Paul Hirst of The Times, "a departure next summer is a possibility" as "those with knowledge of the situation admit that an exit at the culmination of his tenth season at the helm could be on the cards".
There has been no "final decision" made but it's claimed those sources "believe that it would be a logical time to leave" after a decade, with the squad settled and Guardiola having won every available trophy.
Prior to the Liverpool win, City fans showed their love and admiration for their greatest ever manager with a banner which read, “Volem que et quedis,” - translating to "We want you to stay" in Catalan.

He has a history of finishing contracts and those who think he could be bound for a summer exit have previously predicted the same outcome - only for the 54-year-old to stay put and extend his deal.
Spearheaded by the best goalscorer in the world in Haaland, as well an unplayable winger in Doku, City look to have a new dimension to their game which represents the next stage in Guardiola's evolution.
"We are more unpredictable in the way we attack and defend, and that is good that the opponents don't know what we are going to do," Guardiola said after the Liverpool performance.
"It is good energy to have during the games."
