Newcastle fans have figured out who was responsible for the team photo on the Sunderland pitch

Newcastle United took on bitter rivals Sunderland in the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon

Newcastle United fans think they have figured out who was responsible for the team photo on the Sunderland pitch.

This weekend, the Premier League took a step back as the FA Cup third-round matches are played.

On Saturday afternoon, Newcastle travelled to the Stadium of Light to take on bitter rivals Sunderland.

Eddie Howe’s Magpies came out 3-0 winners thanks to an own goal from Daniel Ballard and a brace by striker Alexander Isak.

During the aftermath of the clash, Newcastle players and staff were spotted taking a team photo on the pitch in front of their fans.

Now, fans have taken to social media after thinking they have worked out who was behind the idea.

On social media, one fan posted a video of assistant manager Jason Tindall, who was appearing to gesture to get the players and staff together.

The fan wrote: “So Tindall was responsible for the team picture on the pitch why doesn’t that surprise me at all?”

Another tweeted: “Is Tindall the PR manager as well as assistant coach.”

A third fan added: “This guy really thinks he’s the main character huh.”

Someone else wrote: “Jason Tindall instigated the team photo on the pitch. Utter class.”

A fifth commented: “Jason Tindall organising the victory team photo on The Stadium of Light turf is VERY Jason Tindall!”

Speaking about the team photo after the match, Howe said: “I've got no idea, I just joined in.

“I had no idea what was going on. It was just sort of in the game and what happened and I was more than happy to join in.”

He added: “It feels great [to win], I never worried about the draw I always thought it was a great draw - as long as we won it.”

Meanwhile, Sunderland boss Michael Beale said: “It showed it meant a hell of a lot to them to win this game. When we lose a game I can't complain about how the other team celebrate.”
