Newcastle are odds-on to complete a stunning transfer of a striker this summer despite not qualifying for Europe.

The Magpies have failed to follow up last season's success of earning a Champions League spot after finishing seventh.

Usually that would have secured Europa Conference League football for the club next season, but because the FA Cup was won by Manchester United who finished eighth, Newcastle won't be playing European football at all.

It will mean a huge blow to the club's revenues and make it even more difficult for them to sign big players this summer.

Back in January, it was reported that the club would be prepared to sell some of their big stars to raise cash to comply with the Premier League's profit and sustainability rules.

If they are to make any new signings in the off-season it looks as though sales will need to come first.

There's been rumours that both Callum Wilson and Aleksander Isak could leave the Toon with Arsenal eying up a move for the latter.

As per SkyBet, Newcastle are odds on to sign Everton's Dominic Calvert-Lewin as a replacement. The 27-year-old has spent eight years at Everton and has long been linked with a big move away.

He's had his injury problems but did manage to appear in 32 of The Toffees' league games this season and was directly involved in nine goals.

Whilst his stats aren't mind-blowing Newcastle will struggle to attract big-name strikers so Calvert-Lewin would be the perfect proven replacement for Wilson or Isak.

It's also likely he'd be interested in going given it's probably the last chance he will get to make a big move and potentially compete for silverware.

Everton are also a club that needs to raise cash themselves having fallen foul of the Premier League's strict rules this year.
