Mohamed Salah broke Thierry Henry’s 17-year record in Liverpool's win over Toulouse.

On Thursday, Liverpool thrashed Toulouse 5-1 to move one step closer to the Europa League knockout phase.

Diogo Jota opened the scoring before Wataru Endo nodded in his first Liverpool goal. Darwin Nunez then claimed the third while the impressive Ryan Gravenberch scored Liverpool’s fourth.

But it was Salah, who came off the bench in the second half, with arguably the most significant goal of the night, as the Egyptian broke a record that had been held by Henry for some 17 years.

Salah's injury-time strike was his 43 European goal for Liverpool. In turn, as per Daveockop, the Reds star is now the leading scorer for an English team in Europe ever, surpassing Henry.

Despite Salah’s record breaking haul, after the game much of the talk was about a comical Nunez miss, and on the encouraging performances of summer signings Endo and Gravenberch.

Speaking to TNT Sports after the game, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said: "You saw in the moments where it was difficult. Most of the time we were in complete control. We made good goals, nobody got hurt, perfect night. We could bring the kids on."

Upon being asked about Gravenberch, Klopp added: "He's a good player.

“I'm so happy for him that he starts really enjoying his football again. His first touch is incredible, his acceleration with the ball.

“He's not even halfway there. The good thing is that he has a lot of things to improve."

On Endo's goal, Klopp continued: "He was really strong.

“He scored incredible goals for Stuttgart. He played a really good game, he broke the lines with his passing. A nice next step for him."
