Micah Richards handed Thierry Henry a gift he 'should’ve received 20 years ago' during a hilarious segment on CBS Sports.

On Wednesday night, Richards, Henry and Jamie Carragher were in fine form as they resumed punditry duties for CBS Sports’ coverage of the Champions League.

With Christmas fast approaching, Richards dressed up as Santa during the show and handed gifts to his fellow pundits and presenter Kate Abdo.

Before giving out a present for former Arsenal and France striker Henry, Richards said: “Thierry Henry, so elegant, the one they call Titi. But what do you get the man who has everything?

“Champions League, Premier League, La Liga, World Cup, Euros, but I have just the thing for you. Bonsoir.”

He continued: “You should have got this about 20 years ago. Open please.”

Henry proceeded to open the box to reveal a replica of the Ballon d’Or award.

Richards then added: “You fully deserved it. You didn’t get it but you fully deserved it. But now Santa brings you nothing but sunshine.”

In response, Henry said: “You finally received my letter. I sent that a long time ago man. Thank you, that’s all I’ve been waiting for.

“I’ve been waiting for this for a long time. I didn’t just send one letter you should’ve received about 20! You’re late.”

Henry was beaten to the 2003 Ballon d’Or award by Juventus star Pavel Nedved.

However, many felt Henry deserved to win the award ahead of the former Cezch Republic midfielder.

Last month, Henry spoke about missing out on the prestigious award.

He said on CBS: “Look, you can’t debate opinions. When journalists are involved and have a vote, they vote for whoever they want.

“However you want to look at it, they vote for whoever they want. When you look at the vote in the history of [the Ballon d’Or], not only my year, you [often] look at the top three and think ‘Really?’”

Henry added: “You must have looked at some sometimes and thought, ‘Really?’ So it is what it is. You can’t debate opinions.”
