Mauro Icardi handed extremely rare legal punishment that won't expire until 2099

Mauro Icardi has been banned from driving in his native Argentina for 73 years after being hit with a rare legal penalty.

The former Inter Milan striker has received the unusual punishment after a video circulated of his model partner Eugenia 'China' Suarez leaning out of the moving vehicle without a seatbelt buckled.

The Argentine transport ministry came down hard on Icardi and made an example of him, sharing the video on social media and announcing he had been hit with a driving ban until 2099.

Mauro Icardi hits back after being punished for driving without a licence

In investigating the video, the authorities discovered that Icardi had been driving without a valid licence.

On X, @TransportePBA wrote: "ICARDI BEHIND THE WHEEL WITH AN EXPIRED LICENSE.

"Eugenia 'la China' Suárez unbuckled her seatbelt and stuck most of her body out the window while Mauro Icardi kept on driving.

"Following the video's release, we confirmed that Icardi had an expired driver's license."

The account continued: "That is why we ordered his preventive disqualification. Before obtaining a new license, he must be evaluated to determine his fitness to drive. Road safety allows no exceptions."

Remarkably, the preventive disqualification handed to Icardi means he will technically not be able to drive until he is 105 years old. However, he can obtain a new licence but he must undergo an evaluation to ensure he is fit to drive.

On X, Icardi fired back at the Argentine transport ministry - claiming that he possesses a valid Italian driving permit and accusing them of using his name for attention.

Icardi fumed: "Hello, good day. I wanted to know how you managed to disable the Italian license that I have until 2029. It seems weird to me that even the ministry of transport is hanging off my balls just to get a little bit of media buzz.

"Focus on fixing the streets so we can have better traffic flow in our country instead of going around tweeting and scratching your balls. Stop lying to people and get to work. The Argentine license has to be turned in when you convert it to the European one. What kind of suspension are you trying to invent? All for a little bit of chisme."

Icardi has found himself in a plethora of legal battles in recent times, including his divorce from ex wife and former agent Wanda Nara and custody over their children, as well as a real-estate dispute in Istanbul.

He is also now a free agent, having left Galatasaray in the summer when his contract expired. Icardi scored 16 times in 47 appearances in his final season and helped the Turkish giants win a fourth consecutive league title.

The ex Paris Saint Germain striker has been branded a "one man walking soap opera" in the media for his off-the-pitch controversies and did not find a suitor after leaving Galatasaray.

A move to Olympiacos looked to be on the cards after negotiations reached an advanced stage but the Greek giants ultimately walked away after being put off by wage demands.

There were reports that Spurs could look to sign him as a free agent but it later emerged courtesy of Football Insider that a move would not be happening.

A return to Italy appears most likely, with Lazio said to be well-placed.
