Marcus Rashford has been linked with an extraordinary return to the Premier League if Barcelona refuse to trigger their option to buy.
Rashford joined the Catalan giants on loan from Manchester United last summer and a change of scenery has helped him get his career back on track.
The 28-year-old has scored 13 goals in 45 games, his latest coming off the bench in a 2-0 win over Getafe on Saturday.
A permanent switch to the Camp Nou appeared to be a formality earlier in the campaign after Rashford settled into life abroad quickly.

However, Barcelona are reportedly unsure of splashing out £26 million to secure his services. Manager Hansi Flick has opted to use Rashford as a rotation option, with the England international only starting 15 times in La Liga, despite star man Raphinha's current injury issues.
Per Spanish outlet SPORT, a familiar face is waiting in England should Rashford see his dream transfer snatched away.
Tottenham Hotspur are showing genuine interest in adding Rashford to their attack, which has been ravaged by injury this term. A move to Spurs would hinge on the club surviving relegation. Roberto De Zerbi's men currently sit 18th and two points behind West Ham United with four games remaining.
Spurs have confidence in staying up, having already reportedly agreed personal terms with Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi.

Does Rashford have a future at United?
The door hasn't been firmly shut on Rashford making a sensational comeback with his boyhood club.
It's anticipated that Rashford will be moved on due to his high wages. Should United qualify for next season's Champions League, as expected, his wages will increase to £325,000-per-week. That would put him on par with some of the Premier League's highest earners.
Despite that, current head coach Michael Carrick insisted no final decision had been made on the winger's future.
"There are decisions to be made on certain things, and obviously Marcus is in that situation," Carrick said earlier this month.
"But at this point, nothing's been decided. It will be, because it has to be at a certain point, but at this stage, there's nothing to say."
Rashford is United's 13th all-time top goalscorer, having notched 138 times in 426 appearances across eight years. He spent the latter half of last season on loan at Aston Villa.
