Former England striker Wayne Rooney was displeased by what he did and didn't see in Sunday's Manchester derby.
Manchester United legend Rooney, the club's record goalscorer, was disappointed by the attitude and aptitude of the current United crop.
The Red Devils lost 3-0 to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium thanks to an early Phil Foden goal and a double from Erling Haaland, leaving them with a single win from their first four matches of the new Premier League season.
Rooney was a master of the Manchester derby during his playing career. Although he lost more league matches against Manchester City than he won with United and Everton, he retired with 12 goals to his name against City in all competitions.

Speaking on the latest episode of The Wayne Rooney Show, Rooney slammed United's performance in what he called one of the worst Manchester derbies.

"Man City are a good team so at the Etihad you can lose that game, but I am watching it, and I didn’t see a tackle," the 39-year-old said to Kelly Somers and Kae Kurd.
"Even when it goes to 2-0 and 3-0, I didn’t see someone say, ‘I’m not having this and take a yellow card putting a tackle in’.

"I want to be as supportive and positive as I can be on the manager and the players, but it is very difficult to sit here and say we are seeing progression and at least we’re seeing things that will get results in the near future, but not we’re seeing none of that and it is very difficult."
United boss Ruben Amorim has come under fire again after Sunday's loss, with United falling short of expectations again despite spending heavily in the summer transfer window.

Rooney noticed an unfamiliar sight in the away end, a sign that all is not well among the United support.

"There was an image towards the end of the game where I saw the Man Utd fans leaving," said Rooney. "I have never seen that during my time. You could hear the fans singing Amorim’s name, but I think that is so powerful that the Man Utd fans were leaving the game.
Rooney questions Amorim's future
"You know the game was over and I think they were very disappointed in what they were seeing. It is hard to see how it continues."
Along with West Ham United's Graham Potter, Amorim is among the favourites to be the next Premier League manager to leave.

He replaced Erik ten Hag less than a year ago but has been unable to correct United's course despite a dramatic run towards defeat in the Europa League final.
