Wayne Rooney was in his pyjamas on Friday night as he watched his son, Kai, make his first-ever appearance at Old Trafford - and yes, he was in the stands.
Kai, 16, was introduced as an extra-time substitute for Manchester United in their FA Youth Cup clash against Derby County, replacing defender Godwill Kukonki in the 99th minute of the fourth-round tie.
It was a proud moment for Wayne and his wife Colleen as the chant “Rooney, Rooney” rang around the Theatre of Dreams.
Wayne joined United's interim manager Michael Carrick and fellow coach Jonny Evans in the stands, and later engaged in a 10-minute conversation with Jason Wilcox, the club's director of football.

But unbeknownst to Rooney and those sitting beside him, United's record goalscorer was wearing his pyjamas as he battled the freezing temperatures in Manchester.

Speaking on the latest episode of The Wayne Rooney Show, Rooney revealed his unfortunate wardrobe malfunction to the world.
"So I was at home, and I went into my wardrobe and I picked a tracksuit out," he explained on the podcast.
"I thought it was one of them oversized tracksuits what the younger lads are wearing nowadays. So I tried it on and I thought it was actually quite comfortable, so I kept it on and put a big coat over it and gone to the game.
"Obviously, if it was a first-team game, I'd be dressed a bit smarter, but because it was a kids game [under-18s], I put it on and went to the game. And then it was only when I got home, Coleen asked to look at the label on it, and it was actually a pair of pyjamas.
"So I went to watch my son's first game at Old Trafford in a pair of pyjamas, mistakenly.
"I had it off for like an hour inside. I had a full-on 10-minute conversation with Jason Wilcox [United director of football] in my pyjamas. One of my mates actually, Darron Gibson I think it was, said, 'They look like pyjamas.'
"But they weren't that obvious to be honest, I'll get a picture for you for the next one [show] so you can see them, but they weren't that obvious."
Rooney added: "It shows my style, I actually thought that it was an oversized tracksuit."
Last year, Wayne said his son handles the pressure of having 'Rooney' on the back of his shirt "incredibly well".
"He has great coaches at Manchester United, so I take a stand-off approach," he added. "I speak to him, but for me it's all about his mentality and his mindset, to make sure he keeps enjoying it - that's the main thing for me."
Kai followed in the footsteps of his dad in 2020, when he signed a Premier League academy registration to be part of United's under-11 team.
