Manchester United are reportedly willing to break the Premier League transfer record to make a massive signing.

In just over four weeks, the transfer window will once again open, allowing Premier League sides to bring in new players for the second half of the 2025/26 season.

After a blockbuster summer saw several of the biggest names in football move to English clubs, it is expected that Premier League sides will again be busy when the window opens on January 1.

Manchester United was among the most active clubs in the summer, rejuvenating their attack with the signings of Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha while adding new goalkeeper Senne Lammens and defender Diego Leon at the back.

Throughout the Premier League season, several players have been linked with a move to Old Trafford, with midfielders Carlos Baleba and Elliot Anderson believed to be top targets.

However, according to a report from Spanish outlet Fichajes, it is a new attacker that the club are wiling to spend big on, as they are prepared to shatter their transfer record and spend around €150million (£131.5m) for Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior.

Just a matter of months ago Vinicius Junior seemed like an untouchable player for Real Madrid, but recently it has emerged that the Brazilian international doesn’t appear to be keen on extending his stay at the La Liga club.

As it stands, Los Blancos are trying to convince the 25-year-old to extend his contract past its current expiration in the summer of 2027, but he has so far proved reluctant to do so due to a reported conflict with manager Xabi Alonso.

Vinicius Junior was a regular feature in Real Madrid’s XI under previous boss Carlo Ancelotti but has struggled to find a regular place in Alonso's starting team, often starting on the bench.

Therefore, it is believed that the winger could be open to a move as soon as next summer, with United willing to break their transfer record, currently £89m for Paul Pogba in 2016, to sign him.

But United are not the only club believed to be monitoring Vinicius Jr's situations, with Premier League rivals Liverpool and several clubs in the Saudi Pro League also reportedly interested.
