Vinicius Jr Reveals the Only Club He’d Leave Real Madrid For

Vinicius Jr started on the bench for Real Madrid's Champions League opener against Marseille.

Vinicius Jr has previously named the only club he would leave Real Madrid for.

On Tuesday night, Madrid opened their Champions League campaign by hosting French Ligue 1 side Marseille at the Bernabeu.

Ahead of the kick-off, eyebrows were raised after Xabi Alonso opted to start Vinicius Jr on the bench, with the likes of Rodrygo, Arda Guler and Franco Mastantuono supporting Kylian Mbappe.

With 63 minutes on the clock, Vinicius Jr was subbed on for Rodrygo, with Los Blancos winning the match 2-1 thanks to two penalties from Mbappe.

On Wednesday, Vinicius took to social media and posted a black and white picture of himself leaving the field with his Madrid shirt off, with a caption that read: "Principles of a Champion."

It is unclear whether Vinicius Jr's post was a message to the club, Alonso or the fans, but this will raise doubts over his future.

Previously, the Brazilian had been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League and also the Premier League.

Back in 2023, Vinicius Jr explained that Brazilian outfit Flamengo is the club of his life.

He said to L'Equipe: "I think I could stay here (Real Madrid) my whole career, but the club of my life is Flamengo.

"I love life here in general, and it's going well for my family too. When my loved ones walk around, they are recognised and they wish us nothing but happiness."

Vinicius Jr added: "Little by little, I discovered this new life, new emotions, a fervour... Madrid is unique. Everyone around the world tells me about this club.

"And apart from that, I like it. I'm quite a homebody, but we do a lot of activities."

The winger came through the ranks at Flamengo and made 69 appearances for the club before moving to Madrid in 2018.

Madrid are back in La Liga action this weekend when they take on Espanyol on Saturday afternoon at the Bernabeu.
