An official statement has confirmed that Manchester United star Matheus Cunha has been involved in an accident in training.
The Premier League returned on Saturday afternoon with several top sides back in action for the first time since the third international break of the season.
A blockbuster day of football saw Chelsea secured a controversial 2-0 win over Burnley, before Liverpool suffered a brutal 3-0 loss to Nottingham Forest at Anfield, casting further doubt on Arne Slot's future as manager.
Manchester United fans will have to wait until Monday evening to see their side play as they face Everton in an 8pm kick off at Old Trafford.

However, it appears that the club may have to play the match without Cunha after a sudden statement confirmed that the United star was involved in an 'accident' in training.

After months of rumours linking him with a move to Old Trafford, Cunha officially joined the club in June as part of a a £62.5million deal with fellow Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Since then, the Brazilian has impressed for his new club, playing a key role across his 11 appearances so far, despite the fact he has scored just one goal so far.

But United could be without the forward against Everton, after a statement on social media from local tourist account Visit Altrincham confirmed that he would no longer appear at their Christmas Lights Switch on due to medical reasons caused by a training accident.
Confirming the news on Instagram, the account wrote: "Unfortunately Matheus Cunha has had an accident in training today and will not be able to attend tonight’s Christmas Lights Switch on in Altrincham due to medical reasons."
As it stands, it remains unclear exactly what happened to Cunha in training, the extent of the accident or how it could impact his availability going forward.

The 26-year-old appeared to be fine as he played the first half of Brazil's 1-1 draw in a friendly with Tunisia on Tuesday, but allegedly was involved in the accident during the training sessions with United ahead of hosting Everton.
Pictures from training appeared to show a routine session, although Benjamin Sesko, Harry Maguire, and Kobbie Mainoo were all absent.
